Writing up this report took way more time than the observations. It could be made much shorter. A premade chart to fill in signal reports and comments without the repetitious typing in of date/time etc. would be better.

Hi John, thanks so much for taking the time to fill out the form. Yes, it is a complicated and time consuming form to fill out, but there is a reason for that. Each "movement" is constructed as a different type of science experiment, and the purpose of the reception report repository is for both the general public and scientific researchers to be able to find data specific to each experiment. Ideally I ask people to identify which "movement" they are reporting on, but many times people don't specify a movement at all, or they accidentally select the wrong one (sometimes from a few years ago)... so before publishing each of the reception entries, I go through them all and I verify all of the start and end times and frequencies, with the actual transmissions I did, and when necessary (quite frequently) I have to go into the report and make minor corrections so that the report is associated with the related experiment. In this way, you'll see if you go into the Reception Report Repository, you can select on a specific movement, and it will bring up all reports related to that movement... For instance, right now, I am most curious to see the different receptions of the Feather in the Waterfall.... but there are over 300 reports in total, and by having the search feature by movement confirmed by time code, it is a lot easier to access that data. The data is also available to the general public and to scientists as a downloadable .csv file, which also includes those start and stop times.... so while yes, it is a very cumbersome form to fill out... there is a reason for that.... and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do it.
